31/3/2022: Kvetna 1794 | Hand-Made Mouth-Blown | Auriga Universal and Pinot Noir Glasses ***Wine Bond Members Only***

In the last decade, we had seen emergence of luxuriant wine glasses, mostly hand-made mouth-blown one piece glass by glassmiths, Unlike conventional machine-made glasses which comprises of either three piece (bowl attach stem attach base) or two piece (bowl and pulled stem attach base), these exquisite one piece glass (and sometimes I would say work of art by these glassmiths) are always a hand-crafted bowl with pulled stem and base. Adding to the fact that machine made ones maintain consistency of shapes, temperature and weight; hand-made mouth-blown glass depends a lot on the skills and experience of the glassmiths.

Most of us would have come across either Zalto or Gabriel-Glas. As COVID-19 had changed the world the last two years, it had also affected these glassmiths especially at Zalto. Factories were closed due to COVID-19 and supply became very limited. While the world awaits for glass factory opening and production of its glasses, it was a matter of time when wine connoisseurs start looking for alternatives.....enter KVETNA 1794, traditional glassworks since 1794 from Czechia!

We stumble upon Kvetna 1794 Auriga glasses (lets call it K glasses) recently through a friend. He was importing them to fill the void of customers constantly demanding hand-made mouth-blown luxurious glasses. Let's call the two brands current actively in the market: Z & G glasses. The first time I saw the Kvetna Auriga glasses, I was aptly impressed! But here's my concern....how does it match up to Z glasses? (Read below to see why we are comparing K's Auriga glass to Z glass).

In my experience selling Z glasses previously, the consistency of the weight in Z glasses were quite different in batches. Not just the weight of each glass, but many of us do not realize a "hue" in the glass. Before you go back and start taking out your Z glasses to check, the hue is not a fault of the glass but it was how the glassmith manipulate the temperature of the glass. Hue happens at times as each piece is hand-made. When it comes to K Glasses, each glass goes through strict QC checks by glassmiths, and they show very good clarity. Each K Pinot Noir glass also do not exceed 110 grams. Most of the glasses are between 98-109 grams, and that is in a word, impressive (for Z Burgundy, it is between 110 - 130 grams per glass). In terms of the shape for K Pinot Noir glass, it is truly inspired by the Z Burgundy glass: from its shape, height, thinness, weight, feel....Now for my nose test to compare the glasses.

Each glass' shape (by different glass-makers) evokes different nuances for wines. Just like how the shape of glasses would cater to different grape varietals. For Z glasses, my past nose tests with their Burgundy and Universal glass gather different results. The Z Universal glass at times, shows better for a New World Pinot Noir as compared to the Z Burgundy glass. It's all about testing them with different wines so nothing is actually concrete. It does not mean: Burgundy glass can only be used for Pinot Noir or Chardonnay, and Bordeaux Glass can only be used for wines from Bordeaux / Cabernets / Blends.

The nose test this time, will be Z Universal vs K Universal....Z Burgundy vs K Pinot Noir. The wines today will be a 1997 Clerc Milon and a 2006 Louis Jadot Clos St Denis. Pouring the 1997 Clerc Milon into the Z Universal glass: nose of earth, sous bois immediately emerges, then herbs, dark fruits and some graphite. In the K glass, herbaceous and mentholated nose of earth and soil, then mushrooms, smoke and dark berries. Both the glasses showed well for the 97 Clerc Milon. This is easily a TIE!

Moving to the Z Burgundy glass, the 2006 Jadot Clos St Denis shows tight nose of red fruits, strawberries, earth, floral and cigar box. In the K Pinot Noir glass: Asian spices / incense, earth, red fruits then a whiff of rose petals. Swirls in the two wide glasses evoke amazing and different noses, but I do like the floral notes in both glasses. I would say Z might win (marginally) the nose test this round. In terms of weight and feel, K Pinot Noir glass is slightly lighter but you wouldn't notice it when you hold the two glasses. However, the K Pinot Noir has a slim stem and it almost feels like a Z glass of the early days. In terms of feel and weight, I give it to K Pinot Noir Glass.

As wine connoisseurs are more particular about using fine glassware for their prized collection of wines, Kvetna 1794 Auriga glasses caters to the discerning wine connoisseurs. Yes, K glasses do not have the marketing budget (or endorsements of the who's who of the F&B and Wine Industry) for now, and it is still quite a "newbie" in the wine scene, as most consumers had not heard about Kvetna 1794. However, some restaurants in Europe had started to use Kvetna Auriga glasses, as with some F&B outlets in Singapore. With titanium recently added to this new batch of glasses, they are now more resistant to breakages, and yet maintain the lightness of each glass. I truly see the potential of Kvetna 1794 glasses (especially the Auriga series) as an up-and-coming glass!

28/3/2022: Monday Spot Offers: 1998 Chateau Angélus

A case of 1998 Chateau Angélus had just landed late last week on Marketplace. Don't miss this special St Emilion, available now. Its a new week and tomorrow we will finally see some easing of. Safe Management Measures we have been longing for since April 2020. It's gonna be a good week! Happy Monday!

24/3/2022: Hudelot-Noellat | Arnoux-Lachaux | Bouchard | Louis Jadot | Rene Engel and Domaine d'Eugenie

The last of our March Burgundy collection lands today (The madness continues). We'll keep the write-up short and simple, and make sure you get this offer early, as we understand you may be tuning to CNA or the media at 11am.

In today's offer will be some superlative Burgundies, fitting to close off our March offers:

Hudelot-Noellat: 2015 Richebourg and Romanee St Vivant, very limited bottles from this wonderful vintage. The serious drinkers and followers will spot its wonderful price below.

Arnoux-Lachaux: Only 1 bottle of the 2017 NSG 1er Les Proces available today. Arnoux-Lachaux's wines remain one of the most sought after Burgundy today.

Bouchard: Some 2015 Chambertin Clos-de-Beze, price-to-sell and not to be missed.

Louis Jadot: The Domaine wines from Jadot returns with a 2015 Clos St Denis and Grands Echezeaux

Rene Engel & Domaine d'Eugenie: Owning a bottle of Rene Engel's wine is owning a part of Burgundy history. Most wine aficionados can only hunt for Rene Engel's wines in auctions, but today we have three rare offerings from this producer (their last vintage was 2004). The 2000 Clos Vougeot, 2001 Echezeaux and Grands Echezeaux. And to compliment the Rene Engel offer, the new owners Domaine d'Eugenie's wines will follow. The luscious (and IMHO they made awesome Clos Vougeots) 2013 and 15 Clos Vougeot, followed by 13 Echezeaux and Grands Echezeaux.

Enjoy your Thursday!

22/3/2022: Comte de Vogue | Benjamin Leroux | Lucien Le Moine | Bruno Clair

You know how they always say "save the best for last"....The offers today, are some of the best Burgundies for the month of March, but let's just say we saved today's offer as 'Second last', as there is one more Burgundy offer to come.

I know how Comte de Vogue had always appeared on marketplace with different prices (as there are different sellers) but today's offer are one of the best prices I am seeing. Two bots each of the 08 Chambolle 1er Cru Les Amoureuses with some 13 and 14 Bonnes Mares Grand Cru and 13 Musigny VV Grand Cru. Scroll below to believe the prices, limited availability!

Some Benjamin Leroux's wines, this exciting winemaker had many crossovers in my wine career. Benjamin understudied with Pascal Marchand and his wine-making career included stints at: Cos d'Estournel, Domaine Drouhin in Oregon, Louis Jadot and most noticeably, Comte Armand.  Even though Pascal Marchand changed Comte Armand single-handedly, but Benjamin Leroux who succeeded Pascal Marchand, did an amazing fourteen vintages that started with the 1999 vintage. I suppose most of us would have come across Comte Armand's amazing Pommard 1er Cru Clos de Epeneaux between those years (that were made by Benjamin)....Today's offer though, are not for Comte Armand; but for Benjamin's own wines: 14 Vosne Romanee 1er Cru Les Suchots, and 13 and 14 Clos st Denis Grand Cru. Again, these are available in little quantities...

By the way, did I mention Clos St Denis is actually one of my favourite Grand Crus from Burgundy? Usual nose of incense, flowers and sometimes some funk, with muscle and elegance built into one, I always find this Grand Cru special in its own way. Some 12 and 14 Lucien Le Moine Clos st Denis Grand Cru available today. Last but not least, Bruno Clair returns with some 15 Gevrey 1er Cru Clos st Jacques and a 05 Chambertin Clos-de-Beze Grand Cru.

Our last Burgundy offer for March will end on Thursday. The madness continues for one last time, stay tuned.....

21/3/2022: Monday Spot Offers: 1996 Chateau Latour and Haut Brion

If you missed the spot offer of The Perfect 1996 Margaux last Monday, then don't miss these 1996ers today. Coming from the same owner, these 1996 Latour and Haut Brion are some of the best kept bottles I had seen (in OWC - just like the 96 Margaux), condition is truly impressive! Of course, some bottle's ullage may go to mid neck, but the labels and seals are all pristine as though they had come straight from a Chateau. These are all perfectly kept and aged so look no further if you are fan of these two First Growths.

This week, I will also (try) complete the rest of the Burgundy offers for March (may need to push one of the Burgundy mailer to next week, but lets see)....Pinot Noir beckons!

17/3/2022: White Collection: Henri Boillot and Domaine Leflaive

Looking at today's "White Collection" header; before we go on and think this is another launch on some "Nike Off-White" collection or maybe a Designer launch of their "White Collection Bags"....unfortunately it is not...and there are no ballots. Today's "White Collection" is about these rare cuvees of white burgundy on marketplace, and it is just as limited.

Wrapping up this week, we have had some really awesome wines like the Bordeaux First Growths on Monday and rare Burgundy Grand Crus on Tuesday. If you are looking for a breath of fresh air, look no further as we complete this week with these White Burgs from Henri Boillot and Domaine Leflaive.

Finally, some awesome Corton-Charlemagne from Henri Boillot on marketplace! Previously, there were some amazing offers from Henri Boillot, but it is certainly incomplete without any of his famed Corton-Charlemagne. Today, some 2013 and 14 are on marketplace so don't miss.

For the first time (drum roll), a parcel of Domaine Leflaive's whites. In today's Leflaive offers, we start with 2013 and 15 Meursault 1er Cru Sous le Dos d'Ane, followed by two Puligny 1er Cru Clavoillon of the same vintages. Then, as it gets serious, the 2015 Puligny 1er Cru Pucelles (just one vintage and one bottle) up for grabs from the fastest finger. I must say the 1er and Grand Crus from Leflaive were the most challenging wines I had to learn, to prepare in advance (for drinking). However, they also gave the most satisfaction and are always consistent. Moving to the Grand Crus, we have a few single bottles of the 2015 Bienvenue and Batard-Montrachet. Last to wrap up this white collection, the ever graceful (and intense) 2013 and 15 Chevalier Montrachet.

Have a fruitful Thursday, and next week we will have the Red Burgs back in action....

15/3/2022: Cecile Tremblay Chambolle with an Assortment of Burgundy Grand Crus | Prieure Roch Clos Goillotte

Get excited...very excited! Especially when there are Cecile Tremblay's wines on marketplace. This producer needs no further introduction, especially her relationship to (not so distant) Henri Jayer. But some may not know this: two of Cecile's Grandaunts were actually married with the Noellat and Confuron family. In short, wine-making is in Cecile's blood, coming from a historic family of vignerons...These two Chambolle-Musigny from today's offers will be rarities to own (if you know how difficult it is to get hold of Tremblay's wines). Today we have some 2017 Les Cabottes and 2014 1er Cru Les Feusselottes....

Certainly, an offer like this needs more spectacular cuvees to compliment, so we have included these Burgundy gems: 1 bot of the 2008 Armand Rousseau Chambertin Clos-de-Beze that will see minimum two decades, followed by the awesome 2009 Clos de Tart Monopole. Again, these rare offerings are all in limited bottles (less than 6, just to give an idea of how limited they are). Then, these two Grand Crus make their first appearance on marketplace: the 2010 Meo Camuzet Corton Clos Rognet and the 2011 Thibault Liger Belair Richebourg...prices are attractive so give it some LOVE! Last but not least, 3 bottles of the 2015 Prieure Roch Vosne Romanee Clos Goillotte, this wonderful vintage is a must-have for all PR fans, one of the greatest vintage in the last ten years....Log in to buy now!

14/3/2022: Bordeaux for March: The Perfect 96 Margaux | 06 Mouton and 07 Lafite | 05 GPL and Canon La Gaffeliere

The perfect 1996 Chateau Margaux only comes once in a lifetime, especially these bottles (in today's offer) plus some MAGNUMS. This collection had been in Wine Bond's storage for the last decade+, coming from a serious wine connoissuer whom had stored with Wine Bond since the early days. In short, expect the perfect Margaux, in perfect storage....with impeccable provenance!

Together with the 96 Margaux offer, will be two other First Growths namely the 2006 Mouton and 2007 Lafite, both reaching good maturity for drinking, and price to sell. Don't miss them as well, as only limited bottles are available today. Sneaking into this Bordeaux offer, a few bottles of the 2005 Canon La Gaffeliere and Grand Puy Lacoste, already well drinking (no need to wait further). After this Bordeaux offer for Monday, we will be going back to the Burgundy offers again so stay with us this week.....

11/3/2022: 2005 Cristal in Individual Gift Box | Do Not Miss This!

Let's cut to the chase....These 2005 Cristals have landed, an awesome offer for Friday! Here's 36 bottles, all in individual gift boxes. Don't wait too long, log-in and buy, as they will be gone in a jiffy!

8/3/2022: A Faiveley Collection: White and Red Grand Crus

A Faiveley collection is up for grabs today, and today's offer is an awesome collection of Grand Crus. Some 2014 and 2017 white Grand Crus to start this offer, then two back vintages of the red Grand Crus.

The 2014 Chevalier Montrachet under Joseph Faiveley will kick start this offer, then the 2014 and 17 Batard Montrachet under Domaine Faiveley follows. It's hard not to love the 2014 and 2017 white burgs (17 of course, being the one that needs more time, for now). Both are legendary vintages that will go a long way. For me, 2014 white burgs have always been my favourite since I tasted them few years ago (I had been disappointed with some 2014 red burgs though). It was like reliving the 2008s. My personal favourites are in fact 08 and 10 white burgs. For 2014, I foresee the potential of the white burgs will be limitless, so don't miss.

Moving to the red Burgs, the owner of this collection has graciously put out two awesome back vintages of the Grand Crus at welcoming prices. The 2009 Mazis Chambertin and 2010 Chambertin Clos-de-Beze. Both these vintages need no further introduction, 2009 being "The Great One" (not The Rock aka Dwayne Johnson in his WWE in-ring persona, but still great though), while 2010 for me remains a balance vintage which I personally like a lot. It will be good to pop open one of these Faiveley reds to see how they had evolved and I am sure you will not be disappointed.......RS

7/3/2022: Spot Offer: Roumier - Sylvain Cathiard - Liger Belair

Happy Monday everyone!

And so it seems the Prieure Roch MAGNUMS will not make it to our marketplace (as mentioned in my emailer last week). For those whom were asking me on whatsapp, my sincere apologies as the seller had decided to retract those for sale. Nevertheless, lets move on to today's spot offer: Monday can be interesting too!

The 2005 Roumier Chambolle Musigny should have been in last week's offer but its not too late to own them this week. These 2 bottles are priced to sell, and can certainly hold for more years. One single offering of the 2012 Cathiard 1er Cru Malconsorts in a rare appearance, fitting for a Monday spot offer...Then two offers for Comte Liger Belair's 2018 Vosne Romanee and 2017 La Colombiere (3 bots each).....We've only just begun for this month's Burgundy offers....

4/3/2022: Burgundy MAGNUMS and JEROBOAMS Galore | Faiveley - Bouchard - Henri Boillot

I'm back! Actually, it's more like my laptop and data are back....and March is going to be "All about Burgundy". we have lots of Burgundies lined up for the next two weeks so stay excited....more details are below after this short write-up.

To kick start our Burgundy offers, today we will have a BIG FORMAT MAGNUMS and JEROBOAMS Galore! (As it is difficult to get actual photos of the wines in their respective format size, please pardon me as I will just use the generic 750ml bottle photos as illustration in today's mailer)

We start with three whites: the 2009 Joseph Drouhin Batard Montrachet in MAGNUM, a 2015 Henri Boillot Corton Charlemagne in JEROBOAM format, followed by a 2017 Faiveley Montrachet Grand Cru in MAGNUM format. Both are great wines that will go a long way for more cellaring.

Moving to the red Burgs, these MAGNUMS by Faiveley are awesomely priced, and I wouldn't hesitate to pick up some: The 11 Latricieres Chambertin, 11 Mazis Chambertin and 12 Mazis Chambertin.

To complete today's offers will be these 3 liters JEROBOAMS: A rare 15 Faiveley Charmes Chambertin, along with their Clos de Vougeot. Then two Bouchards Le Corton Grand Cru from 2011 and 2012. Log in to buy now!

1/3/2022: Champagne Nicolas Maillart - Franck Pascal | 89 Fritz Haag n 12 Fontaine Gagnard Criots Batard

It had been a crazy end to February. For those customers who were speaking with me yesterday, will probably know my office laptop died on me on Monday morning. Resuscitation was futile yesterday...So, with the limited resources I have (yesterday and today), here is a start to March's first offer.

Two Champagne offers, both well-drinking: Nicolas Maillart Brut Platine and Franck Pascal Brut Rose. This is followed by a ultra-rare 1989 Fritz Haag BJS Ries Aus Goldkapsel. With more than 200 g/l sugar for an Aus (can go up to 260g/l), for me, these are untouchable in the first ten to fifteen years (or more). A customer actually chatted with me on how long he should keep some of those sweets including the German Rieslings. Well, it depends on how you like to drink them. For me, I normally use the residual sugar "grams per liter"  in the Rieslings, as a benchmark to age them. Put it this way, I am still holding on to some of the 70s BA and TBA. 80s Aus will be awesome and I can imagine this 89 by Fritz Haag is going to drink so well! Last but not least, one case of the 2012 Fontaine Gagard Criots Batard Montrachet, again an unbelievable price on Wine Bond marketplace so don't miss. Now back to nagging about my laptop.....hello IT, recovery done?.....Have a great start to March everyone!

25/2/2022: New Assortment of Burgundies: Rouget - Bernstein - Roumier - Cathiard - Rousseau

These new listings of Burgundies just landed over the last two days, and a back to back mailer this week is inevitable....Resistance is futile......Not only are they awesomely price, but these are well-drinking gems.

Rouget's NSG, 2005 and 09, both fantastic vintages. These two village wines make a first appearance on marketplace. 2008 Bernstein's Mazis Chambertin, an extraordinary producer with a miniscule plot (from all of Gevrey Chambertin). I will either drink or hold this for a few more years. Next, for all the Roumier fans, 2 bots of the 07 Roumier Chambolle 1er Les Cras is ready to drink and this wine will certainly leave a lasting impression. Cathiard's 09 Vosne 1er Cru Reignots, a new listing of Cathiard surprises me (and hopefully not the last time we see any of Cathiard's wines). This is always a popular producer on our marketplace. A "super sub" came in last night (for me to finish the mailer on a high note), the 05 Armand Rousseau Gevrey 1er Cru Clos St Jacques, unbelievable price....Have fun

24/2/2022: Greatness in these:09 P Roch Vosne Clos Goillote PURE - 07 Meo Camuzet Richebourg-16 Petrus

There are good wines, then there are great wines, like those in today's offer. These bottles come in very limited quantities, and many connoissuers considering these as gems that are hard to find. Maybe these are wines, not meant for one to find, but only allocated.  The 09 Prieure Roch Vosne Le Clos Goillotte "PURE" makes a return, a one barrel production yearly. I remember vividly a visit by Yannick Champ in Singapore years ago, which the PURE (of a different vintage) was served alongside the Clos Goillotte, and the PURE excelled like a Grand Cru, an uber long and persistent finish....the impression is still etched in my mind! Next, the 07 Meo Camuzet Richebourg...a well-drinking vintage that can rival it's own Premier Cru Cros Parantoux of the same vintage. Also, the Cros Parantoux vineyard for Meo is actually just next to its Richebourg, on the same elevation. Imagine if both wines of the same vintage were blinded in a tasting, I bet it will be hard to tell which is which. Last but not least, the highly rated 16 Petrus, deserving of the double 100 pointers, a perfect Pomerol, just 1 bottle available today......Have a great Thursday!

15/2/2022: A Parcel of Sylvain Cathiard...Déjà vu with New Offers of Reignots with Suchots

How does a person get better in tasting wines: This was the topic within my younger discussion group last week. Other than reading up notes, understanding vintages (and weather) of the different regions, a selective way (if affordability is not an issue) is just drink more (ok...maybe taste is a more appropriate word). From my experience: 2003 for example, is a very hot vintage for both Bordeaux and Burgundy, scorched vintage some say.....There is always a underlying heat in the wines (even after a decade). And it takes a lot of experience in tasting the same wine over the years to evaluate if this "heat" had dissipated, at the same time understand its evolution. There is one collector whom I know, he had bought, drank (and still drinking) almost all the vintages of Cathiard's wines from Bourgogne to Grand Cru. In a blind tasting of Cathiard's wines, I believe he can probably tell every vintage and/or Cru level + commune. I've had not had the pleasure to blind taste with him (as he always shares open bottles), but I will certainly not send the challenge....

This week is another Sylvain Cathiard offer, and it feels like Déjà vu all over again (I think this is the third Cathiard offer since our first one was out in November last year). These offers are intriguing as they get better, the highlight this week are the Reignots, Suchots and the Malconsorts making a "guest appearance" again. Well-drinking vintages like the 2008, 09, 10, along with a young vintage the 2016 are making their rounds today. Again, I shall not delay you further, scroll down to view the offers now....

10/2/2022: Sweet Dreams are Made of These | Sauternes

Sweet dreams are made of these...Sauternes! How long can these Sauternes drink, a friend asked me last week. Not forever, but long enough for the next generation. Laurent Drouhin posted a 1937 d'Yquem last night on IG @laurentdrouhin , an amazing bottle by his palate.  For MW @jeanniecholee who posted a 1986 d'Yquem last year, it was way too young and the depth of expression for her, only starts between 20-30 years. Personally, I keep quite a fair bit of Sauternes, Barsac, and lots of old German Auslese, BA and TBA. These are truly for the long haul, and I always look forward to drinking them, especially the older bottles from the 70s and 80s. My recent encounter with a 197X German Riesling BA was "refreshing" as it had been a long time since I last had an older bottle. It still has a healthy life ahead (and I was expecting full-on maturity). Same for the 1991 d'Yquem which was popped opened recently (the friend whom asked the earlier question). It was not a strong vintage but I would still hold it for at least another 10 years. It looks like these old bottles will need more time.....

In today's offer, these bottles are amazingly price-friendly, and worth keeping if you are a fan. Especially both the 2010 and 2011 Rieussec (priced to sell). All the offers today are in regular 750ml bottles so why wait, log in to buy now.

8/2/2022: Spot Offer: 2010 Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc and 2018 Cos d'Estournel Blanc

It's the eighth day of Chinese New Year, a week exactly from the first day. A friend just shared with me that one year ago (2021 Chinese New Year) was probably the best Chinese New Year as we were able to do 8 visitors per unique household. This year is 5. Seem a lot quieter and its noticeable in the neighborhoods. Frankly, I stopped noticing these details. I was just glad that I was able to visit my parents by scheduling a date with my siblings and relatives. No matter what the measures are, let's just stay safe.

Today's spot offer will feature two white Bordeaux, both Chateau's make highly-sought after wines many will be familiar. These two well-rated white Bordeaux are probably two of my favorites and not to be missed.

The 2010 Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc came direct from the Chateau, ripe and ready.  Any Smith Haut Lafitte Blancs are must haves (if you did not manage to buy any during En Primeur). This is IMHO, the most consistent white Bordeaux I had come across in my years of being in this trade. Ditto for the 2018 Cos d'Estournel Blanc, and it cannot get any better than these ex-Chateau bottles: young, minerally, alluring with a touch of elegance. Both wines are priced to sell so don't miss.....Have a great Tuesday

4/2/2022: Trio Burgundy Offer Part 3: Meo Camuzet Collection

Happy Chinese New Year! Wishing all a great and prosperous start to the year of the Water Tiger, and like the Water Tiger that signifies courage and flexibility, these two traits will certainly help us get through 2022 in these times. Quoting mine (and my Dad's) greatest hero Bruce Lee: "Be like Water. Water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend".....

Today's write up will be short and simple. This Meo Camuzet collection will complete our Trio Burgundy offers. An assortments of sorts from a single collector: from 1er Crus like Murgers, Boudots and Chaumes, to the Grand Crus like Charmes Chambertin, Corton Les Perrieres, Corton Clos Rognet, Clos Vougeot and the rare Echezeaux. These offers today will also list some strong vintages like 2010, 2012. For those who had bought from the previous two Burgundy offers, and are looking to pick up some bottles today, don't wait and login to buy now. Invoice will be consolidated and sent latest by next Monday.....

27/2/2022: Trio Burgundy Offer Part 2: Joseph Drouhin Collection

Welcome to part 2 of our Trio Burgundy Offer. Today's focus is on a fine collection of Grand Crus from Joseph Drouhin, especially the "Musigny Musigny Musigny" (Pun for this saying: repeat 3 times if it is important). Other than the Musigny, this collection will feature some of the best vintages like the 2010, 12 and 15. We start with a single white, the 2012 Batard Montrachet which reveals itself after much aeration. Expect bold and elegant flavours.

Three limited offers of MAGNUMS follows: the first and only Premier Cru from Vosne Romanee, Les Petits Monts (2010) is one that is not just rare, but always flamboyant. Surrounded by Richebourg, Aux Reignots and Cros Parantoux (and La Romanee is diagonally across), this high elevation Premier Cru is a "must-have" for all serious Burgundy collectors. The MAGNUM offerings continues with the 2012 Clos de Vougeot and Chambertin Clos-de-Beze of the same vintage, then two regular 750ml bottlings of the Chambertin Clos-de-Beze (2012 & 15). When there's a (2010) Grands Echezeaux and (2010 & 11) Musigny on offer, you know that this collector is serious! With only 0.5 ha in Grands Echezeaux, and 0.67 ha in Musigny owned by Drouhin, these two Grand Crus are just scarce! Own these rarities now by logging in, and have a great Thursday.....RS

25/1/2022: Trio Burgundy Offer Part 1: Burgundy Assortments

Today is the start of our "Trio Burgundy Offers" the first two offers are today and Thursday, third offer will be during Chinese New Year, around end of next week when we are back to office. For these three offers, members may send in the purchases online on marketplace, and it will be consolidated after the third offer is out. All orders will then be invoiced in February so not to worry, there's no need to rush and pay before Chinese New Year.

These Trio Burgundy Offers (Part 1 - 3) come from one single collector, direct from Europe through reefer shipment to Wine Bond, and bottles' condition are impeccable; it's like buying straight off the Domaines so don't miss!

We start with an assortment of whites today. The 2015 Paul Pillot's Chassagne Montrachets 1ers, the Clos St Jean Blanc and Caillerets, then the 2014 Domaine de Montille Corton Charlemagne. Both 2014s and 15s are interesting and though I love 14 whites more than 15 (the 14s are showing a lot of balance as always), the 15 whites are showing more minerality now, which the extracted ripeness used to mask in the primitive years.

From the Pinots, 2015 is certainly a vintage to behold (like the 05). These offerings will be good to hold for the long term: 2015 Bouchard Echezeaux will grow stronger, as will the 2015 Chateau de la Tour Clos de Vougeot. Then an ultra-rare 2015 Chateau de Marsannay Chambertin (we almost never see this wine being offered in the open market) finally makes its way into Wine Bond marketplace. Last but not least, a Grand Cru in MAGNUM format that had reach the first ten years (and more years to come for those who are patient): the 2012 Chateau de la Tour Clos de Vougeot Vieilles Vignes 1500ml. This "old vines" Clos de Vougeot by Chateau de la Tour, usually on allocation, are on many connoisseurs "must haves". A regular bottle of this wine is already rare, let alone a MAGNUM.....Book these rare wines today!

18/1/2022: The Return of Comte Liger Belair and Sylvain Cathiard

SC and CLB is back! This much awaited "follow-up to our (sold out) offer back in November" last year have landed. These Sylvain Cathiards and Comte Liger Belairs are always highly demanded, and remain top names to own for all Burgundy aficionados. As usual, today's quantities are miniscule (I know right?)....What can I say, these wines (especially in today's offer) are rare stars, and probably will appear this one time on our marketplace.....

In today's offer, Sylvain Cathiard comes back with a 08 Vosne Romanee 1er Cru Malconsorts (2 bots), and the uber-rare 07 Romanee St Vivant Grand Cru (1 bot).  While these may seem rare, Comte Liger Belair offers today are just as small. 2011 and 15 Vosne Romanee La Colombiere (2 bots each) and 2011 and 15  Clos du Chateau Monopole (1 bot each). For the hard core CLB collector, there will be an offering of the 07, 08 (1 bot each) and 11 (2 bots) La Romanee Grand Cru this time. Enjoy!

13/1/2022: Vintage Artisanal Champagnes including David Leclapart | Holdvolgy and Marcel Lapierre Morgon

The artisanal Champagnes in today's offer reminds me of my days at Artisan Cellars, a time when we would drink (and of course sell) some of the best vintages from these Champagne producers....those vintages include: 2002, 2004 and 2006, and frankly, I haven't found a vintage that can match up to any 2002s (maybe the 2008 which I only tasted much later)....Today's offers consist of awesome vintages from these familiar producers like Pierre Moncuit, Andre Beaufort and Ulysse Collin. And of course, David Leclapart's L'Apotre (LV 04 and 08) + L'Artiste (LV06) are available once again. Although these Champagne offers consists of only a few bottles, the vintages offered today are awesome. And it will still be (FFF) "fastest finger first" so don't miss.

Along with the Champagnes will be a small collection of Holdvolgy Tokaji. This is the first time we have any Tokaji on the marketplace, and though I know fans of Tokaji are Few and Far Between, die hard fans will certainly appreciate the friendly prices in today's offers. Not forgetting another producer to complete today's offer, Marcel Lapierre's Morgon is back with two vintages: 2015 and 2016 which are great to drink now. Scroll down and log in to see the marketplace offers, and have an awesome Thursday!

11/1/2022: Bordeaux and Burgundy | Latour - Leoville Las Cases - A Rousseau - Comte de Vogue - E Rouget and many more

What a great way to start the first Burgundy and Bordeaux offer for Jan 2022. Though this is a small list of offerings, these are wines that are unbeatable in prices, not to mention some of these wines are hard to source or find.

We start with a pair of Bordeaux with perfect provenance. Direct from source to Wine Bond. The 2001 Latour and 1985 Leoville Las Cases are must haves if you are looking for well-drinking and ready Bordeaux. I am certainly looking forward to popping a bottle of the 85 Leoville Las Cases soon.

From the Burgundies, the listings are as impressive and most of these kaleidoscopic wines had not been in our marketplace before. For the whites, 2 bottles each of the 2009 Girardin Quintessence Corton Charlemagne and the ever-demanded 2006 Drouhin Montrachet Marquis de Laguiche. Then for the Pinot fans: a rare 2017 Nathalie Vigot Vosne Romanee 1er Cru Les Petits Monts beckons. For years, I wonder why vintages ending with SEVEN (for Burgundies) always have a hard time. Like 87, 97, 07. But look on the bright side, the 2017 will drink earlier and better than vintages like 2015 and 2016 now. And it is also a vintage to cellar in the near to mid term. The rest of the listings for today are as alluring: like the 2010 Marquis d'Angerville Volnay 1er Cru Champans followed by the 2007 Olivier Bernstein Gevrey 1er Cru Cazatiers. For those who understand Gevrey, this a Premier Cru of sheer power and longevity. The Cazatiers is just one of my favourite 1er Cru from Gevrey, the other being Petite Chapelle.

Last but not least, we finish up today's offer with these three rarities: 2006 Comte de Vogue Musigny VV, 2005 Emmanuel Rouget Echezeaux and a single bottle of 2005 Armand Rousseau Chambertin!

Do pardon this short write-up, as I am getting all excited while preparing for another Burgundy offer for the last week of Jan....and no, it is not the SC or CLB offer. This future offer will complete our awesome "Trio Burgundy Offers" for January....more details will come soon.....

7/1/2022: Italian Offer | Brunello - Barolo - Sassicaia - Masseto | Rare 02 Conterno Monfortino Riserva

Italian wines are perhaps one of my favourites in terms of drinkability in the near to mid term especially the Brunello, Barbaresco and some Barolo. With the exception of some Barolo and Barbarescos which will go a long way, like Gaja or Giacosa. Another producer whom makes astounding Barolos is Giacomo Conterno. For years, I had been a big fan of G Conterno's Monfortino Riservas. And till today, I am still holding on to my 74 and 78 Monfortino Riservas. Connoisseurs or collectors of this producer/wine, will know what I mean. The red-ruby coloured..multifaceted old Monfortinos are to die for. The 2002 Giacomo Conterno Barolo Monfortino Riserva is on offer today.

Today's offer is really for the Italian wine drinkers. We start with a rare 2011 Querciabella Batar, followed by a pair of 2010 (awesome vintage) Brunellos by Argiano and Tassi. The Piedmonts come in with a young 15 Nebbiolo d'Alba and a 13 Barolo Sarmassa by Brezza, and then the classical 08 Cesare Barolo. Did I already mention that the prices are great today? Great prices including the 2006 Sassicaia (back by popular demand and same price as before) and the 2006 Masseto. Don't miss these offers today. Have a great Friday and weekend ahead!

4/1/2022: Sweets + Fortified + Champagnes and Quintarelli to Start 2022 | Offers coming for January

Thank you 2021. You had taught me patience, humility and amongst many, I see kindness. In the last year, I see people helping one another in this pandemic world. It could be as simple as giving out a spare mask, helping the less fortunate get on/off public transport or donating food supplies in supermarket to the needy.  These are the little things that warms my heart. The pandemic may have brought us away from our family but it had certainly united us. Maybe this pandemic did teach us something after all. Happy New Year! I wish the same kindness is here to stay. We can't turn back time, but we can certainly look forward to doing better this year. Bring it on 2022!

To kick-start our Jan 2022 offers today, we will have an assortment of sweets, fortified, Champagnes and two rare listings of Quintarelli.....These fortified are as rare as it gets, like the 1955 Cockburn, 77 Dow's and 85 Warre's Port. My favorite actually, is the Yalumba Aged 50 Years Tawny Port. Half a century of waiting just to get this, how rare is this! Who can resist a rare 1990 Dr Burklin Wolf "R" Riesling Auslese from Pfalz, or the two rare offerings from Quintarelli: a 1997 Recioto and a 1998 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico. Remember to scroll down to see all the other interesting offers for today.

Just a mention of whats coming in the next few weeks:

Italian offer: featuring some well-drinking Brunellos, Barolos. Do look out for a nice offering of 2002 Giacomo Conterno Barolo Monfortino Riserva, 2006 Sassicaia and Masseto.

Burgundy Offer (with Bordeaux): A very strong line-up of Burgundy wines including 2005 A Rousseau Chambertin, 2006 Comte de Vogue Musigny V.V,  2005 Emmanuel Rouget Echezeaux and many other interesting Burgs. And from Bordeaux, an awesome offering of 2001 Chateau Latour and a perfect provenance 1985 Leoville Las Cases.

Champagne Offer: with David Leclapart and other vintage Millesime from artisanal Champagne producers, coupled with a parcel of Holdvolgy (Tokaj) and Marcel Lapierre's Morgon.

CLB and SC Offer is BACK: This time round, it will be a very small parcel. Again, both CLB and SC offers don't come easy. Though there will be some Comte Liger Belair Vosne Romanee La Colombiere and Clos du Chateau, the highlight in this future offer, will be the few bottles of La Romanee Grand Cru. DO NOT miss them if you know how rare this gets. And from Sylvain Cathiard, this time will be both the powerhouse: Vosne Romanee 1er Cru Malconsorts and Romanee-St-Vivant. As usual, offers for these two producers are going to be miniscule.

Have a Great Start to 2022!
