24/3/2023: Recap of March Wine Listings on Marketplace

March is almost over, what a month. From the launch of our new website and marketplace, to troubleshooting, and finally have it running (almost) smoothly. It had been a "fun" month....(well, for me at least it was). In the coming months, Wine Bond marketplace will also be going through some changes with regards to: seller's commission, marketplace listing period and others. We will announce them once ready.

Today's mailer is a quick one, and a recap of this month's offers, especially for those who like to run through all of March's offers in one single mailer. Don't miss any of the wines, as some will be gone by next week when March ends. As usual, if you need assistance to book some of the bottles, my whatsapp is always available.

Sneaks for next month: As I am typing this mailer, there is going to be a huge Bordeaux and Burgundy list that is in preparation for April. There will be lots of classified growths (2nd to 5th Growth) from well-drinking vintages from 2006 to 2015. And for Burgundies, vintages span from 2009 to 2017, from producers like Faiveley, Drouhin, Boillot, and others. There will also be an irresistible Thibault Liger Belair parcel. All these will be well-priced to sell and coming in April. Get ready!

20/3/2023: March Madness Tres : Spanish with La Rioja Alta and Vega Sicilia

March MADNESS Tres....

I have to share this, a wine experience that happened few weeks ago: I was at a Japanese restaurant in town with friends, and we bought a bottle of Burgundy from the restaurant. The wine was from a familiar Burg producer (I had at one point of time in my career distributed his wines). The current distributor, is an acquaintance as well. As soon as the service staff try to open the bottle (a 2013 Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru Feusselottes), something went awry. The cork was too soft, and it almost broke halfway through. I could see that there was seepage going up to the middle part of the cork. Not good, there could be some heat damage. After the cork was all sorted, and wine poured, I could tell the colour was too "aged" to be a 2013. Indeed, on the palate, the wine was tasting too forward. We did not reject the bottle, as the wine was fine to drink.

The next day, I got this email from a regular marketplace buyer (his experience last night was a stark contrast than what I experienced). This member, whom bought a wine from marketplace back in January, mentioned: (omitting some confidential details here)....."Drank the 92 Lafon last night with some serious Burgundy drinkers, we drank X-Champagne, X-Burg 1, X-Burg 2, X-Burg 3, X-Burg 4, X-Burg 5 and X-Burg 6. The theme was Burgundy 9X-9X. The Lafon was described as Super Stellar and Rock and Roll notes in the nose! Definitely Wine of the night"......

Now, did anyone remember which 92 Comtes Lafon was sold back in January 2023? It was in fact, the Meursault Premier Cru Les Perrieres. Wow! Can you imagine drinking a 92 White Burgundy Premier Cru, the way it should be, 30 years down the road? It must be an exhilarating experience. This is what Wine Bond Marketplace is about. No matter how often I preach about provenance, I will continue to talk about this. I am sure many of our buyers at Wine Bond, have drank bottles coming from marketplace and the regulars know how we are able to trace provenance of almost all the bottles coming in. This is how much we care about what we sell on marketplace. Now, wait till I tell you the story about the Sylvain Cathiard (same wine, vintage) I had side by side, one from a Wine Bond collector, and another from a wine broker (a story for another mailer maybe)....back to today's offers.

Despite Spanish wines being less popular on marketplace, there are certainly a couple of wineries from Spain, making waves with their wines and also with their native varietals. These producers are no strangers to many collectors, some of us had been collecting their wines since the 80s, 90s and early 2000s, Considering today's offers include lots of back vintages, in particular from these two famed producers: La Rioja Alta and Vega Sicilia, this is an offer you should not miss. And if you are looking at these older vintages, buy confidently, as these had been stored at Wine Bond from early days, and provenance is impeccable. Enjoy your Monday!......RS

17/3/2023: March Madness continues: More Burgundy | Bordeaux | Rhone and Loire | P2

March MADNESS part deux: More Burgundy arrives, along with a list of Bordeaux, some Rhones and Loire. Then a Dom P2 to round up today's offers.

Pierre Damoy is good friend, who never fails to open a bottle of his older Chapelle-Chambertin or Chambertin Clos-de-Beze, whenever I taste wines with him in his cellar. Having one of the larger holdings of Chambertin Clos-de-Beze Grand Cru, his Chambertin and Clos-de-Beze are probably one of the best Grand Crus I had kept over the years. Representing Damoy before (when I was working as his distributor), I had the opportunity to work with him for around a decade. I followed through some of his best vintages like 2009, 2010, 2012. Even in weaker vintages like 2011 and 2013, the Grand Crus make an impression! Today, don't miss his 2010 Chambertin Grand Cru on offer, along with his 2010 Gevrey Chambertin Clos Tamisot. Also, a single listing of the 2010 Jean Grivot Vosne Romanee joins the small list of Burgs today.

Other assortments today include an interesting list of Bordeaux. A single Double-Magnum of the 2012 Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc, followed by one case each of the 2003 Gruaud Larose and Leoville Barton.  Then, the 2012 La Croix de Beaucaillou that everyone should not miss. This is one the best vintages I had come across (for the La Croix de Beaucaillou), and so ready to drink now. The last Bordeaux is a 2006 Pavie Macquin (only OWC sale for this wine).

Couple of Rhone and Loire listings: the 2014 M. Chapoutier Ermitage Le Meal returns with a JEROBOAM bottling, but the similar wine in MAGNUM bottling is also available on marketplace. The Beaucastel CDP Oenotheque mix vintage case (of 4 vintages) returns this month, after the last single OWC in Oct 2022 got sold quickly. For those who missed it last year, don't miss it today. Huet's Vouvray are hard to find, and these Chenin Blancs definitely deserve a place in many wine connoisseurs cellars. Aged Vouvray bring a whole new dimension to Chenin Blancs. Today, two young-lings the 2017 Clos du Bourg and Le Mont makes their first appearance. Last but not least, the rare 2000 Dom P2 has landed, only three bottles available this time.

Next week, the quintessential Spanish list lands for part three of our March madness. Don't miss it as there will be multiple back vintages of La Rioja Alta Gran Reserva 904, and Vega Sicilia Unico. Have a Great Friday!

13/3/2023: March Madness is here: Burgundy is back!

March is MADNESS, considering the list of wines I have for this month. It's hard to contain these offers. On hand, I have this big list to share, coming from a single collector here at Wine Bond. And since I need to catch up for March offers, pardon me if I am sending out a couple of offers this and next week.

Today we will kick-start these Burgundy offers: lots of gems from vintages 2011-2014. From village to Premier and Grand Crus. For the benefit of all the Burgundy lovers (whom had been chasing me for more Burgs)...here you go! After this Burgundy offer, we will proceed to Bordeaux, Rhone and Champagne (The next offer will be this Friday 17 March). Last but not least, a huge Spanish list (next week) including SIX back vintages of Vega Sicilia Unico. It is only Monday, but don't miss these, as all of them are priced to sell. I won't delay you further, scroll down to view them and secure your bottles now!

8/3/2023: Ramonet White Grand Cru Batard and Montrachet | 1999-2000-2002

March starts with a new beginning for Wine Bond. Not as simple as pressing a "restart" button to have a new WIS magically appear, but the new WIS is indeed now live. For all our members, we launched the new Wine Bond (WIS) Wine Inventory System cum website and starting 1 March, we had moved our homepage to www.winebond.com.sg with a fresh face-lift. All our members should have gotten the new password for your existing email addy log-in; if not, please reach out to us.

As the team had been working on this for the past months (albeit with a little delay). At the launch on 1 March, some minor bugs were still detected but mostly rectified within the day itself or by the next working day. You probably notice that Wine Bond Marketplace had a short hiatus last week due to this. Thankfully, this week Marketplace resume to full functionality.

At present, the new website is operating at close to full functionality (99% I would say). Nothing is picture-perfect whether we test the system rigorously prior to launch, or having the system live on 1 Mar: We try our very best to find any issues immediately with all our users. If there were any inconvenience caused over the last one week, we apologize sincerely. If you are still having issues, please let us know, and our team is always ready to assist. Thank you again for your understanding.

With the new Marketplace "alive" again, this wonderful offer arrive at the perfect time. Four listings of Ramonet White Grand Cru with the best provenance ever...and I mean EVER!....1999 and 2000 Batard Montrachet Grand Cru, then the "ultra rare" 2000 and 2002 Montrachet Grand Cru. For all the Ramonet collectors, don't miss this offer, a chance to own these older vintages of Ramonet Grand Crus. These had been sleeping in Wine Bond for more than a decade. New owners please........

27/2/2023: The Macallan 72 Year Old Lalique Decanter

The Macallan 72 Year Old in Lalique is a celebration of the collaboration of masters from across the fields of whisky, crystal, architecture, construction and craftsmanship and marks a new beginning in The Macallan story. This exceptionally rare whisky is presented in a unique and bespoke crystal decanter and presentation case that are defined by the outstanding architectural complexity of our new brand home. For nearly two centuries the mastery of exceptional whisky making has been at the heart of The Macallan Estate and the new Distillery and Visitor Experience, designed by internationally acclaimed architects, Rogers Stirk Harbour and Partners, embodies the care, passion and superior craftsmanship that goes into every drop of The Macallan.

Lalique has captured the character of the new Distillery in crystal, with the horizon of the decanter rising and falling in reflection of the roof line and incorporating the clean lines and natural curves. Each decanter is encased in a bespoke presentation case inspired by the interior of the Distillery, with a curved wooden roof over the decanter, and a footprint taken directly from the circular layout of the three new still houses. Designed by Burgess Studio, the case is handcrafted from the finest materials by The Royal Warrant holding cabinet makers, NEJ Stevenson. Distilled in the 1940s, this peerless spirit began its journey to maturation during the optimistic post Second World War period – and this atmosphere of reinvention inspired the new Distillery and the whisky and design of The Genesis Decanter. Released globally from late 2018 to 2019, it is limited to 600 individually numbered decanters worldwide.

Notes from Macallan

AROMA: A delicate peat starts, leading to a soft, aged oak smoke. A body of refreshing citrus lemons and green apples, with a background of vanilla pods and raisins, with the smallest hint of ginger.

PALATE: Delicate peat smoke combines with a soft vanilla, and a surprising sweet oak smoke. A gentle wood spice combines with a delicate peat smoke, which gradually fades to leave a viscous mouth coating of citrus fruits and subtle green apples.

FINISH: Medium and fruity, with a sweet oaky mouth feel.

21/2/2023: Last Assortment for Feb: Australia | Italy | Champagne

After a series of fantastic offers from Bordeaux, Burgundy, Rhone and Australia for the month of February, we will end this short month with these assortments from Australia, Italy, and two vintages of Cristal. We start with the highly rated 2012 Henschke Mount Edelstone Shiraz. Whenever I meet Stephen Henschke, I always start the conversation by showing him a photo of my first visit to Hill of Grace vineyard (standing in front of the iconic church). Those were the days of making my pilgrimage to wine-producing countries. And of course, Mount Edelstone is one of the most graceful Shiraz I had come across. 2012 is definitely a great come-back vintage, after a very difficult 2011 in Eden Valley, McLaren Vale and Barossa Valley. Another great vintage to emerge from the Barossa is the 2018 vintage, as shown in today's Standish the Relic, or the ever consistent 2016 Leeuwin Art Series Shiraz from Margaret River. Sum it up, today's Shiraz are mighty impressive.

Two wonderful listings of Soldera Sangiovese, the 2012 and 13 appear today. Many will remember these two vintages as the first vintages of renaming the Brunello di Montalcino Riserva to Sangiovese (for reasons that do not need to be reminded of). The other Brunello available today is by Stella di Campalto (SDC), someone who had understudied from Gianfranco when she first made wines. I remember the first vintages by Stella when I was importing her wines, and trying to convince wine collectors that SDC's Brunello Riserva is the next big thing. Today, her Brunello Riservas have become one of the most difficult wine to be allocated. Again, SDC's Brunello Riserva are quite different from Soldera's (IMHO). If there was a blind tasting between Soldera and SDC, I bet most will be able to tell them apart. Two listings of Stella di Campalto Brunello Riserva reappear today, and this time with lower prices for both cuvees, the 2009 (regular) and 2010 (MAGNUM). From the Italy collection, we also have a case (12) of the 2016 Gaja Barbaresco and a case (6) of the iconic 2015 Petrolo Galatrona, one of the best Merlot to emerge from the Tuscan hills.

Last but not least, two vintages of Cristal are back, this time will be 2008 and 2013. For those who are always searching for Cristals, don't miss them today at these unbeatable prices. Also, a quick reminder that some listings on marketplace will expire end of February, so pick them up while you can. I have listed them below....Have a great Tuesday ahead!

16/2/2023: Burgundy Offers: Magnificent Premier and Grand Crus

At times, when I look at current Burgundy prices, I wonder if this trend of prices will reach the peak when it just stays there. Ok, probably wishful thinking. Last week, while catching up with some friends from the trade, we were talking about how renowned Burgundy wines are getting out of reach. Some actually shared that major communes like Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny, Vosne Romanee and even Nuits-St-Georges (which has no Grand Crus btw). The Premier or Grand Crus from those communes that we had been drinking for more than a decade, prices had doubled as high as 200% from a decade ago. We started to talk about the other communal appellations and guess what, these actually pop up, where we think there are still gems: Ladoix, Rully, Chagny, Mercurey, Givry, etc....hey, wait a minute....Weren't we selling some of these back in 2008, when no one actually believed that there are actually some pretty good wines? Today, with more wine importers setting up companies in Singapore, there are already a handful of them whom concentrate their portfolio to producers of these "alternate" communal appellations. It's all part of getting ahead of the game. Put it this way, these appellations will probably follow the path of the well-know communes, in time to come. Let's see then.....

Today's offer took a while for me to consolidate, but boy am I glad to finish this at the last hour. Coming from different sellers (whom are friendly btw), these prices are still in a "good-price range". These are magnificent wines to own, so let's cut to the chase, I will list all of them below so that it'll be easier for you to scroll through the list below and concentrate on those you want:

15/2/2023: HUGE Rhone Collection | The MAGNUM Offers

These Rhone MAGNUMS are simply magnificent wines to own today! When I saw these wines listed by one serious Rhone wine collector, all I can think about is the passion put into the collecting. These MAGNUMS must have taken a fair bit of time to consolidate since they are all in BIG formats, and different vintages. Today's offer is certainly a distinct one. These are all "price-to-sell" and I think any Rhone wine lover shouldn't miss this opportunity to own them.

Jaboulet's Hermitage La Chapelle is no stranger to everyone, except if it comes in a MAGNUM. Three vintages available today, 1995, 2010 and 2012. There is also a regular bottle of the 2014 in today's offer, since there is a recent posting.

Clos des Papes is definitely one of my favourites. This classical producer makes old-school Chateauneuf-du-Pape, and prices had been held steady over the years. I used to get my yearly allocation from the local distributor from 2000s. Those were some great years to own (2003,05,07) and it would be a shame if I missed those vintages. Seasoned buyers alike, will know where to pick up Clos des Papes (from a wine shop at Republic Plaza actually). Put it this way, Clos des Papes is all about consistency, even in bad vintages. Their wines are delicious in the first few years upon release, and can go a long way. The MAGNUMS of the Clos des Papes include 2003 and 2006.

Talking about consistency, Domaine de la Janasse is also another great, affordable and consistent producer. The 2007 Chateauneuf-du-Pape (in MAGNUM format), is definitely a good drink and ready. You just need to gather enough people to pop this MAGNUM. Last but not least, the 2010 Chateau de Beaucastel Chateauneuf-du-Pape, is a wonderful and strong vintage. It should hold easily for years.

Tomorrow's Burgundy offer will feature one of the most comprehensive list for this year. There will be some quintessential Grand Crus and Premier Crus from renowned producers. Don't miss both the Rhone offer today and the Burgundy offer tomorrow!

13/2/2023: Spot Offer: Perfect Shiraz -> Clarendon Hills Astralis | Torbreck Runrig and The Laird

It is not often when we see a line up like today: Sixteen Shiraz on offer: eleven of them achieving near-perfect scores of 98-99. Three with perfect score of 100....This is the most trophied line-up of Australian wines for 2023!  Welcome to the perfect Shiraz offer, with Clarendon Hills Astralis, Torbreck Runrig, The Laird, and Two Hands Ares.

I started my Wine journey with Australian Shiraz (like many others), as Australian wines were aplenty. Working in the service industry in my younger days also helped to hone my knowledge in these wines. For two years while working as Concierge, sourcing various stuff for guests were part and parcel of the job. Wine sourcing happens many times and some of the best wines we had to find (other than the Classified Growths of Bordeaux which was always popular), were actually these rare and hard-to-get Australian wines: Astralis, Grange and Hill of Grace. Some reading about these wines were always required, so that we can always have a conversation with our guests. Unlike today's network and accessibility of information, we read a lot of Wine Magazines back then. Today, I still love my Australian Shiraz. There is a certain character that defines an Australian Shiraz....an Australian Shiraz. To me, that is distinct and special in its own way.

Our offer today consists of the best vintages by Clarendon Hills Astralis, Torbreck Runrig, The Laird and Two Hands Ares. These perfect wines combine, must be the best Australian offers for this year. All the wines come from a single owner, and provenance is the last thing you should be worried about, as some of the older vintages had been at Wine Bond for the longest time. Have a splendid Monday ahead!

9/2/2023: Burgundy Offer: Equally Formidable Whites and Reds

Today's offers include an assortment of Burgundy. In fact, two formidable wines in particular, still young but already showing potential to achieve legendary status. It would have been a blast to taste them today (with proper preparation), or cellar them for the long term, I think these two wines will be great in time to come.

2016 Armand Rousseau Chambertin Grand Cru (A perfect Chambertin in 2016)

2013 H. Gouges NSG 1er Cru Les-St-Georges (a Premier Cru that can outperform some Grand Crus)

Other than the two wines (above), today's offers include some whites, from well-drinking vintages and communes. If there is a competition to pit these whites against the reds, I think it will be a TIE. Two vintages of Leflaive Bourgogne Blanc (2015 and 2016), followed by two 2004s Comtes Lafon: Meursault 1er Cru Charmes and Genevrieres. A pair of Henri Boillot also makes an appearance: the 2009 Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Clos de la Mouchere Monopole, and then this (Ultra-rare) MAGNUM: 2009 Criots-Batard Montrachet Grand Cru. Last, to complete our offer, a 2007 Drouhin Musigny Grand Cru.

7/2/2023: Fabulous February Starts with These Bordeaux

I'm back! Last week, while I was attending a SSG-WGS training, I started working on all these fantastic offers coming in Feb. With a fabulous month ahead of us, there is no time to waste. We got lots of offers lined up for everyone. We start with these star-studded Bordeaux today (some First Growths included). Then later this week on Thursday, a Burgundy offer. While this week's Burgundy offer is ready,  another Burgundy offer is being consolidated for next Thursday. In between these two Burgundy offers, we will also have a fine selection of Rhones from Jaboulet, Clos des Papes, etc. The Rhone offer will feature predominantly MAGNUM bottling so this is definitely a first time on our marketplace. After all these, we will (by mid February) have an assortment of wines from Australia, Italy and others. It is going to be a short month, but an interesting one! Let's start with these Bordeaux:

Three first growths commence our offers today: the 2005 Mouton, 2010 Lafite and 2014 Margaux. There are between 3 to 6 bottles of each wine, and these are good-buys at reasonable prices, don't miss them. 2009 and 2018 Lynch Bages are next. This Fifth Growth from Pauillac is certainly one of mine (and many collectors') favourites. The 2009 is well drinking now, while the 2018 (the last time I tried it), it is probably shutting down and needs to lay down for a while. Nonetheless, the 2018 will be the star buy today. Adding to the offers, 2001 Tertre-Roteboeuf, 2000 Angelus and 2015 Ducru Beaucaillou, both the Angelus and Ducru are near-perfect wines worthy of any collectors out there whom are looking to build their trophy of wines.  Last but not least, couple of halves (375ml) of the 2009 Lion de Suduiraut to sweeten today's deal.

By the way, don't forget Budget day is next Tuesday 14 February, so the offers next week will run back to back on Wednesday and Thursday instead. Have a great Tuesday!

31/1/2023: Spot Offer: 2013 Bernard-Bonin Meursault and Puligny Montrachet Premier Crus

A quick spot offer, for two 2013s Bernard Bonin, appearing today with a different vintage. Don't miss these rare Premier Crus: Meursault Genevrieres and Puligny Montrachet Folatieres by this miniscule producer. If you had been following our offers, the previous 2011 vintage of the same wines were snapped up quickly. Don't miss the 2013 today!

"Bernard-Bonin’s Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet are amongst the most sought after white Burgundy wines on the worldwide market. They have become iconic amongst collectors. A must try before getting addicted to the uniqueness of Bernard-Bonin’s style"......Vinous Media

26/1/2023: Ornellaia | Gaja | Giacosa | Selosse | J. Prieur | Leflaive | C de Beaucastel | Muller-Catoir

Happy Chinese New Year of the Rabbit! Gong Xi Fa Cai!

Hope everyone had a good break over the Chinese New Year holidays, and managed to catch up with friends and relatives during this period. As we start the year of the Rabbit, Wine Bond marketplace continue with our last offer for January with these assortments. These loose bottles are all priced-to-sell, so let's have a look:

The ultra-rare Selosse returns with just two bottles of the Substance and one bottle of the Version Originale (V.O). Any Selosse bottles are often snatch up quickly, so don't miss them.  Two Burgundy listings today: three bottles each of the 2004 Leflaive Puligny Montrachet Pucelles is back again, along with 2013 Jacques Prieur Chambertin Grand Cru. With only two acres of vines located on the slopes of Chambertin Grand Cru, this is a producer whom makes an amazing Chambertin in miniscule quantities. Two Rhone listings, from Chateau de Beaucastel, featuring two vintages (3 bots each) of the 2004 and 2009 CDP Hommage Jacques Perrin. These near perfect CDPs are every Rhone wine-lover's dream. I always wish there are more CDP interest on marketplace. Frankly, these Mouvedre (et Grenache and Syrah) are delicious and very affordable. Three Italian listings gather today: 2015 Ornellaia, still a baby (attractive price), followed by the 2005 Gaja San Lorenzo. Then, a 2009 Bruno Giacoa Barolo Le Rocche Falletto to complete these Italian trio. Last but not least, twelve halves (375ml) of the 1996 Muller-Catoir Haardter Burgergarten Riesling Eiswein, these sweets are perfect to complete our January offers.  Don't miss any of these in Janurary while you enjoy your Lohei's. Have a Prosperous New Year!

18/1/2023: The White Collection of Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey | Assortments from 2005-11

How do you know if a wine producer like Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey is heading for the stars? When you find the Grand Crus are allocated in limited quantities (or at times not allocated) by the local distributor. You think it's hard to get Batards and Chevaliers sometimes? Try getting the Grand Crus of Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey....Now that is a real challenge.

I saved the offer of PYCM specially for our last offer before Chinese New Year, because this is as rare as it gets, and deserves all the attention. There are always buyers whom want cases of PYCM's Grand Crus. Honestly, I consider it lucky if I am allocated bottles of their Corton-Charlemagne, Batard or Chevalier Montrachet.

Today's offer of these back vintages, perfect provenance PYCM's Premier and Grand Crus are also what WineBond Marketplace is about. These came direct from the Domaine, straight to the collector's storage at Wine Bond. Some of these vintages were the primitive vintages of PYCM. At that time, only few knew or spotted this producer and this collector had a good allocation of their Grand Crus. These were specially released by this collector for WineBond marketplace, and it cannot get any better than this. Lets start with this list of uber-rare cuvees (available bots in brackets below):

Premier Crus

2005 Meursault 1er Cru Les Genevrieres (1)

2007 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatieres (2)

2007 Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrieres (2)

2008 Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrieres (2)

Grand Crus

2007 Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru (2)

2008 Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru (2)

2009 Bienvenue-Batard Montrachet Grand Cru (2)

2007 Batard Montrachet Grand Cru (2)

2008 Batard Montrachet Grand Cru (2)

2007 Chevalier Montrachet Grand Cru (2)

2008 Chevalier Montrachet Grand Cru (2)

2011 Chevalier Montrachet Grand Cru (2)

Pierre-Yves wine-making is making waves and some of these back vintages can no longer be found so don't miss them. Before we all go crazy and I try to book the bottles that you want, I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone in advance 恭喜發財 (Gong Xi Fa Cai), and let's have a prosperous year 兔(to)gether!

17/1/2023: Comtes Lafon - Ramonet - Bonneau du Martray and many more

Today's Burgundy offers are all about these spectacular producers. These are no stranger to many serious collectors. Even though most of the cuvees are in loose quantities, these cuvees are rare to find in the first place, hence these miniscule quantities. Most of the bottles in today's offers come from different collectors, while tomorrow (18 Jan 2023, Wednesday), we will finish our pre-Chinese New Year offer with Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey whites (coming from a single collector), and featuring lots of their Grand Crus, so don't miss!

With a mix of both Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from Premier to Grand Crus, today's offers seem the most interesting. Starting with the Chardonnays, three cuvees from Domaine des Comtes Lafon namely: 2006 Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Champs Gain, Meursault 1er Cru Genevrieres and Meursault 1er Cru Perrieres. From Ramonet: the delicious 2007 Chassagne Montrachet 1er Cru Les Ruchottes and then Les Caillerets. Bonneau du Martray makes a reappearance with their highly sought after Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru. Today, it will be some of their 1999, 2006, 2009 (in MAGNUM, 1 available) and 2011. The last white is none other than the uber rare 2005 Coche Dury Meursault.

From the Pinot Noirs, even though mostly single bottle, these are very hard to find: 2009 Ghislaine Barthod Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru Les Cras (only 2 bots), followed by these single bottle listing: 2004 Comte Liger Belair Vosne Romanee 1er Cru Les Chaumes. the 2005 Sylvain Cathiard Chambolle Musigny Les Clos de l'Orme and last but not least, a 1998 Bouchard La Romanee Grand Cru.

For today's offer, we will consolidate your order together with tomorrow's PYCM offer, and the final invoice will be sent either on Wednesday afternoon or Thursday morning. Have a great Tuesday afternoon.

13/1/2023: Spot Offers: Bernard-Bonin | Roulot | Leflaive

Vernonique Bonin and Nicolas Bernard runs a seven-hectare estate together. It is an all white domaine with all vines located in Meursault and neighbouring Puligny-Montrachet. With the whites of the Cote de Beaune, Nicolas believes there is fat and minerality in them, and acidity links the two in an elegant way. In turn, these transform into balance. The couple took on the Domaine in 1998. Veronique’s grandfather had a Domaine: Domaine Michelot, which covered 21 hectares. In 1998 her grandfather decided to split the Domaine amongst his three daughters. Nicolas and Veronique decided it was a good time to take her mother’s vineyards and make their own wines, and started something truly authentic, and thus Bernard-Bonin was born. Veronique describes the philosophy at Domaine Bernard-Bonin as lutte intergrée, basically a mix between several different methods. At each moment, they choose which is the method to use and try to intervene as little as possible. They want to be as natural as possible. It is part lutte raisonnée and part organic wine growing.

Meursault 1er Cru Genevrieres: Comes from vines both in Genevrières-Dessus (upper) and Genevrières-Dessous (lower). The soil in Genevrères is quite homogenous. Perhaps a bit stonier in the upper part. In the lower part loose soil. The two plots produce wines different in style, which are blended into one single cuvee. The Genevrères-Dessus produces a spicier wine, whereas Genevrières-Dessous produces a more buttery wine. Vines are on average 60+ years old.

Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatieres: Bonin's parcel is in the part of Les Folatieres called Peux Bois, the southern part. The vines are old, on average 80 years old, and produces very small and concentrated grapes. The wine is rich in flavors: stone fruit, lemon, and gunflint, with a distinct soil-driven minerality.

“In Meursault you need to harvest the chardonnay a bit early. If you don’t have enough acidity to begin with it will be a disaster in the end”

…….Nicolas Bernard

12/1/2023: 2009-2012 Olivier Bernstein: Village and Top Premier Crus

With more white Burgundy offers coming next week, it is fitting that we have an offer for Reds today. These well-drinking Premier Crus by Olivier Bernstein are now back on marketplace, after more than eight months. Don't miss them this time. Again, all these cuvees are priced-to-sell, and most importantly, all the vintages are great to own, from 2009 to 2012. Olivier Bernstein is among the most successful producers in Burgundy, setting the bar high for the growing number of micro-négociants in the region by producing wines that compete with some of the finest Domaines.  He is indeed the talented protege, in a class of his own.  Some of the older vintages from today's offer are impossible to find. These have perfect provenance as the collector had these wines direct from source to storage, it had been here since. These are the cuvees available:

2009 and 2010 Gevrey-Chambertin

2009, 10 and 11 Chambolle Musigny 1er Cru, Les Lavrottes

2009, 10, 11 and 12 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru, Les Champeaux

2009, 10, 11 and 12 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru, Les Cazatiers

Don’t miss the Bernstein offers today. Next week, we will start (and also rush) a few offers for some really rare white Burgundies. The names include: Comtes Lafon, Leflaive, Ramonet, Roulot...some "maybes" from Coche Dury, Bonneau du Martray. Then a few assortment of Red Burgundies are also looking for new owners. Look for the "Grande Finale offer" before Chinese New Year, which will be a neat parcel of Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey's whites, featuring four of his Grand Crus and two of his Premier Crus. Hope everyone is getting ready for this coming Chinese New Year. A quick reminder to send in your drawdown order for your wines this week, so that we can deliver them next week.

Have a fulfilling Thursday!

10/1/2023: More Burgundy Assortments for Chinese New Year

Our second Burgundy offers for January are intriguing with a selection of mainly Pinot Noir this time. But before going to today's offer, couple of news to update everyone.

Please mark down this date: 5/5......i.e: 5th of May, Friday this year (should be 5/5/5).....because Wine Bond BBQ is back! The last one was back in 2018. For most members whom had attended previous Wine Bond BBQ, will know that this IS the biggest event of the year that any of our members should not miss! Stay tuned as we release more news over the next two to three months. Next news: do note our Chinese New Year closure and cut off, as indicated below (in the picture). In short, we will be back 25 Jan (Wed). Remember to send in your orders early for any delivery before Chinese New Year.  Now let's get back to today's offers:

Just one white to kick start our offers: 2004 Leflaive Puligny Montrachet Pucelles, is textbook Puligny, and one of the best 1er Cru whites to own today. Consistency is the key word here. This wine always make a deep impression.

For the Pinot Noirs, today's offers are "Chambolle-centric" beginning with 2006 Comte de Vogue Chambolle Musigny, then the 2009 Drouhin Chambolle 1er Cru Les Baudes. And to heat up the competition, 2010 JF Mugnier Chambolle Musigny and its top 1er Cru, the 2011 Chambolle Amoureuses make their appearance. In this battle of the best Chambolle, Mugnier's elegance are unstoppable, Drouhin's consistency are unmissable, and Comte de Vogue's classiness cannot be ignored. There are certainly some good vintages as well today so don't miss all these Chambolle offers.

Continuing the list of old world Pinot Noirs, a rare offer of the 2006 D'Angerville Volnay 1er cru Taillepieds in MAGNUM formats for those looking for a party of Burg lovers to pop this. Then, two rare listing of 2006 Domaine de Montille's Vosne Romanee 1er Cru Malconsorts and its rare sibling, the Malconsorts Cuvee Christiane, just one bottle each available. Even though both cuvees are rare, interested buyers should consider buying both bottles to compare them side by side. I believe these two cuvees will give the Vosne Romanee Grand Crus, a run for their money. Last, a young 2015 Rossignol Trapet Chambertin, the only Grand Cru in today's offer. Btw, I swear it is pure co-incidental that there is also a Gaja Sperss in today's offer (same as last week). This time round, a 2006 is available.

Coming on Thursday and next week, more Burgundies including renowned Domaines like: the spectacular Comtes Lafon (whites), more Leflaive (Grand Crus), Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey (don't miss this opportunity), Olivier Bernstein (well drinking village and 1er Crus reds), Ramonet (well-drinking 1er Crus), Bonneau du Martray (more Corton-Charlemagne coming) and many many more....we are gonna have Burgundy offers ALL THE WAY till Chinese New Year (and also after)......so stay tuned!

5/1/2023: Assortments in January 2023 | White Burgs Dominant

So it begins, 2023 is here, Happy New Year everyone! Chinese New Year is around the corner, less than a month away. It will be a rush so don't overlook the wines you need for Chinese New Year, we will have some amazing offers this month. Although it is a slow start to marketplace, I am trying to secure an awesome Burgundy list soon (with renowned names, mainly whites). Before the big Burg list confirms, let's KIV this for now, but look at today's offers. These Domaines, they dominate and defend the reputation of White Grand Crus. To every white Burgundy wine aficionados, they are no strangers:

A 1997 Bouchard Corton Charlemagne to start, followed by two vintages (2010 and 14) of Bonneau du Martray Corton Charlemagne. Here is another chance to own the white Grand Cru from a "history-to-be" producer. In another two decades or so, we may never see any Bonneau du Martray wines. A couple of Comtes Lafon back vintages: 96 Meursault Genevrieres, followed by the 92, 95, 96 Meursault Perrieres. Leflaive is also here, with a 92 Puligny Montrachet Les Pucelles, then three vintages of the Chevalier Montrachet Grand Cru (89,90,92). These Comte Lafon and Leflaive collection had been stored in Wine Bond for the longest time, from a single collector, so provenance cannot get any better than this.

Moving on to some reds: two offers from Faiveley, namely the 2002 NSG 1er Cru Les St Georges and 2010 Mazis Chambertin Grand Cru. Last but not least, the perfect 1997 Gaja Sperss (a glorious wine) and the 98 Gaja Barbaresco. Have a great Thursday ahead!
