18/12/2024: Sylvain Cathiard Malconsorts 2008-13 | PYCM Grand Crus | Fourrier Collection 2009-10

This has got to be The Grande Finale Burgundy offer of 2024! From three apex producers namely: Fourrier, Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey and Sylvain Cathiard, these back vintages, historic and rare communes, are the perfect fit to close our 2024 Burgundy offers.

Jean-Marie Fourrier's wines from vintages 2009 to 2010 were some of the best vintages to emerge in the 2000s. Today, these wines are inviting and drink beautifully. The range of Premier to Grand Crus are in their drinking window, and offers a glimpse of the two perfect back to back vintages, evolved beautifully over the years.

Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey's whites are back, and followers on marketplace will remember we had offers of their village and Premier Crus at times, occasionally selling out some cuvees. Today the emphasis are on the rare Grand Crus: Corton-Charlemagne, Batard-Montrachet, Chevalier-Montrachet and Bienvenue-Batard-Montrachet. Vintages are from 2007 to 2008, and there will also be two Premier Crus: Puligny-Montrachet Folatieres and Meursault Perrieres. If this list of PYCM whites do not get you intrigued, the next producer will!

These Sylvain Cathiard offers, are once in a lifetime chance to own the biggest vertical vintages of the Vosne Romanee 1er Cru Malconsorts. Featuring six vintages from 2008 to 2013 (all available in three bottles each), these come from a single collector whom had amassed this collection over a decade (his actual collection of the SC are of course, bigger than these). This is the one offer you SHOULD NOT miss. As a highly-demanded and historic Premier Cru, worthy to be ranked alongside some of the Grand Crus of Vosne Romanee, a collection of Sylvain Cathiard will not be complete, without the Malconsorts.

With the offers today, they will close our 2024 Burgundy offers for this year, a worthy Grande Finale. Here's wishing everyone a Merry Christmas....Happy Holidays!

16/12/2024: Spot Offer: 2009 Chateau Rayas Chateauneuf-du-Pape Reserve | 12 Bottles Available

The 2009 Château Rayas Chateauneuf-du-Pape Reserve is a benchmark wine by Emmanuel Reynaud. 2009 was a vintage that emphasizes on the purity of the Grenache fruit, a testament to the estate's philosophy, delivering a wine of remarkable finesse and complexity.

2009 vintage was characterized by a hot and dry growing season in Southern Rhone, resulting in wines with ripeness and concentration. A lack of significant rain during the harvest also ensured healthy, grapes, but careful vineyard management was essential to avoid over-ripeness or loss of balance. A warm spring led to an early bud break, and consistent heat during the summer accelerated ripening. Cooling breezes in August helped preserve acidity. During harvest, many producers, including Chateau Rayas, picked at optimal ripeness. The focus was on balance and freshness.

While the vintage is often associated with bold, rich, and full-bodied wines, Chateau Rayas maintained its hallmark style of elegance. The 2009 vintage remains a highly-valued collectible. Again, Emmanuel made a Rayas CDP of enduring refinement.

4/12/2024: Burgundy for Christmas | Cathiard. Noellat. B-Monnot. Marc-Roy. Y Clerget and More

The holiday season is upon us, and with it comes the joyous gatherings, hearty laughter, and indulgent feasts that define this magical time of year. Burgundy wines are known for their exceptional complexity, balance and finesse, whether Chardonnay or Pinot Noir. While I prefer to drink Burgs on their own, they actually pair well with many cuisines and are extremely versatile. Today, I will be recommending some simple pairings of Burgs (by communes), with some Christmas gourmet. Hopefully these recommendations can elevate your Christmas celebrations and feasts.

•   Oysters x Chablis: The crisp minerality of a Chablis enhances the briny sweetness of fresh oysters. It is known to be one of the perfect pairing to oysters. Villages and Premier Crus work splendidly with most.

•   Foie Gras x Meursault: The creamy texture of Foie Gras paired with the nutty, buttery notes of a Meursault creates an unforgettable harmony. Like what many say: Sharpness of a Meursault cuts through the Foie Gras.

•   Honey Baked Ham x Chassagne-Montrachet: The natural sweetness of the honey glaze on the ham complements the ripe fruit notes and slight honeyed nuance in Chassagne-Montrachet whites. The acidity of a Chassagne keeps the palate refresh, and the mineral tones enhance the smoky notes of the ham.

•   Roast Turkey x Chambolle-Musigny / Vosne-Romanee: A classic pairing, the earthy notes of the Vosne-Romanee, or the elegant and perfume red fruits + spice notes of the Chambolle Musigny, can elevate the flavors of Roast Turkey and its accompaniments. Look for the herbal finish in Vosne-Romanee that works wonders with the Roast Turkey seasoning.

•   Beef Wellington x Gevrey-Chambertin / Pommard: The bold, structured profile of Gevrey-Chambertin, or the firm and robust characters of the Pommard, complements the richness of beef and mushroom duxelles. (A small note: certain Volnays gain weight with time, and can be paired too)

•   Epoisses & other Cheeses x Puligny-Montrachet: A regional match highly recommended: the creamy pungency of Epoisses pairs beautifully with the crisp acidity and layered complexity of a Puligny-Montrachet. Grand Crus like Batard Montrachet can hold well with some aged Cheeses like Comte or Beaufort (by the way, the nuttiness of both the Beaufort and a Corton-Charlemagne pairs perfectly). My favourite is a voluptuous Brie de Meaux with a simple village Puligny-Montrachet.

Today's Burgundy offers come at a perfect time. Not only do they include a great selection of producers, wines and vintages; prices are extremely friendly. Start scrolling down to view these offers. In this festive season, let some of these Burgundy wines transform your Christmas into an unforgettable celebration, and let that perfect marriage of food and wine, do that magical touch to your celebrations to end the memorable 2024!

18/11/2024: The Complete Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Collection from 2015-2020

Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey is an iconic name in Burgundy, revered for his exceptional skill in producing both red and white wines that capture the essence of the region. Deeply rooted and coming from a renowned wine-making family, his reputation for meticulous craftsmanship, forward-thinking approach, and deep respect for tradition, has gained admiration from both fellow winemakers and wine connoisseurs.

Pierre-Yves Colin, and his wife Caroline Morey, both belong to significant lineages of Burgundian prominence, Marc Colin on Pierre-Yves side and Jean-Marc Morey on Caroline. They physically embody the tradition and ancestry of Burgundy as “ground zero” for much of what we recognize as France’s heritage for wine and terroir. Marc Colin is a well-respected producer whose holdings span some of the most celebrated terroirs in Saint-Aubin, Chassagne-Montrachet, and Puligny-Montrachet. After years of honing his skills under his father’s tutelage, Pierre-Yves ventured out on his own in 2001, establishing his eponymous Domaine with his wife.

Initially, Pierre-Yves focused on negociant work, sourcing grapes from trusted growers while still managing a portion of the family’s vineyards. By 2005, he began consolidating his own holdings, steadily building a portfolio that reflected his vision for precision and purity. Pierre-Yves wines are celebrated for their crystalline purity, expressive minerality, and profound elegance. His approach marries traditional Burgundian practices with modern techniques, resulting in wines that are both deeply rooted in heritage and marked by innovation.

blanc-s

The white wines are often considered the jewels of his portfolio, display remarkable structure and depth. Pierre-Yves is known for his restrained use of new oak, which allows the nuanced characters of the terroir to shine through. His Chassagne-Montrachet exhibit complex layers of stone fruits, floral notes, and intense minerality. The St-Aubins are pure in expression and transparent. The Corton-Charlemagne are exotic, vibrant and out of this world. Exceptional tension and consistency in all his whites.

rouge-s

While the whites excel, the reds should not be overlooked. Primarily from appellations such as Santenay, Chassagne-Montrachet and (in recent years) Nuits-St-Georges, they showcase a different facet of his expertise. They are crafted with the same ethos of low intervention and a focus on vineyard expression. The tannins are fine, with bright acidity. With minimal extraction and careful use of oak, they maintain a balance that emphasizes elegance over power.

Over the past two decades, Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey has cemented his status as a benchmark producer in Burgundy. His wines, both red and white, are characterized by a meticulous attention to detail that captures the true voice of the vineyard. Each bottle is a testament to his dedication to quality and tradition. His unwavering commitment to excellence ensures that his wines not only honor the legacy of the region, but also continue to push the boundaries of what is possible in fine wine-making in Burgundy. Finding a bottle of Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey white, is like finding a treasure chest, rare and  elusive.

13/11/2024: Return of David Leclapart and Georges Laval | Growers Champagne in November

It is ironic, every time David Leclapart's Champagnes are on offer, Georges Laval's Champagnes appear at the same time. It is like these two were meant for each other on marketplace.

Today, in our duo Growers Champagne offer, these Leclapart and Laval Champagnes are going to blow you away, with prices that are as good as (if not better) than before. Also, a little more cuvees and vintages are being offered. For e.g: Leclapart's L'Alchimiste and Laval's Meuniers de la Butte appear, vintages of different cuvees span from 04-09.

Leclapart's Champagnes are always a hot commodity on marketplace. They are complex, vivid, and sometimes edgy, that appeal to lovers of distinctive and intellectual Champagnes. Laval's Champagnes on the other hand, go through long fermentation and often have a certain vinousity and complexity, The focus is on maintaining the vibrancy and authenticity of the base wine. Though some may think Laval's Champagnes are mind-boggling, I think they have a mystery appeal at the same time. Don't miss any of them today!

8/11/2024: 11.11 Starts Today | HUGE Bordeaux and Burgundy + Other Assortments | New Offers and Re-posts

And so it arrives, 11.11. What started as a celebration and memorable day for singles in the 1990s (originating from University Students in China), has now evolved to one of the (if not the) biggest sale event of the year, named "Singles Day Sale". It was popularized since 2009, and like wildfire, has spread globally over the years with retailers and merchants. Even Black Friday Sale, seems to try and play catch-up.

In the past week, I have managed to compile a list of offers for today, and also for early next week, in conjunction with 11.11. Today's offers will feature a HUGE list of French wines, mainly Bordeaux (re-posts with better prices, limited bottles), a brand new and prodigious list of Burgundies, and assortments from other regions. Prices are irresistible I assure you, and it is a good time to stock up bottles for the coming festives (if you have not done so). Early next week, there will be another themed Burgundy offer featuring some limited and remarkable bottles that's hardly found in open market, rarer on marketplace. Just a sneak in case you are yearning for rare Burgundy bottles.

For 11.11, it may not mean products are always going at rock-bottom prices; it can also feature limited and rare offers, and some of these wine offers for today and next week, are as rare as they get. If you are a wine-lover, don't miss them, as your 11.11 journey at Wine Bond marketplace starts today. Enjoy Friday.....RS

5/11/2024: 2018-19 Bernard Bonin | 2017-18 Bruno Clavelier | Other Rare Back Vintage White Burgundy

The 2018 and 2019 vintages for Bernard Bonin are about exceptional quality with distinct characters, largely shaped by warm, dry conditions. Both vintages are celebrated for their intensity and richness, and both brought unique traits to Bernard Bonin's Meursault.

2018 was a particularly warm and dry year in Burgundy, resulting in a harvest with abundant yields and very ripe fruit. A warm spring and early summer allowed for a rapid and even flowering, setting up a generous crop. The summer was hot, but occasional rainfalls prevented excessive water stress on the vines. For Bernard Bonin, the 2018 whites produce round, rich, and full-bodied wines, with an opulent texture. Acid levels were a bit lower in this vintage due to the ripeness of the grapes, but the Domaine's focus on early harvesting and bio-dynamic practices helped to retain freshness and balance. Expect the 2018s to show both concentration and precision: vibrant minerality with balance between richness and acidity, and a well-rounded, supple mouthfeel.

2019 is quite similar to 2018 in terms of growing conditions. However a smaller yield was harvested due to some frost damage in spring. While summer was also hot, September had a slower ripening period, which helped preserve acidity and develop more intense aromatics in the fruits. The 2019 whites show good structure, with greater tension, as compared to 2018. These wines have a fresh profile and acidity is a key characteristic of 2019, lending a more structured feel. Bernard-Bonin made more pronounced whites with energy, a fresher, more focused style. The wines show remarkable depth and a long finish. This vintage is likely to appeal to those who favor a mineral-driven Meursault that will reward patience in the cellar.

Comparing 2018 and 2019 of Bernard Bonin's Meursaults, is like comparing 2009 and 2010. These are back to back vintages that are worthy of every Burgundy collector's cellar.

17/10/2024: A Cecile Tremblay Collection | Preserving a Legacy ~ Creating her Path

Domaine Cecile Tremblay has over the last two decades, earned a reputation as one of the most exciting and dynamic producer in Burgundy. Known for her commitment to organic and biodynamic viticulture, Cecile produces wines that exude the elegance, complexity, and expressiveness for which Burgundy is renowned for. Today, her wines would make the late Henri Jayer proud. Bring a fourth-generation in a family of viticulturists, Cecile took over the family vineyards in 2003 and has since been making waves with her dedication to terroir-driven wine-making, driven by her subtle yet profound influence of Henri Jayer.

Cecile Tremblay has a rooted history and deep familial connection to Burgundy’s wine culture. The Tremblay family owned vineyards in some of Burgundy's most prestigious appellations for generations (vineyard lease affiliations include Georges-Mugneret, Hudelot-Noellat and more). The vineyards originally come from the Edouard Jayer estate. Edouard, Henri Jayer’s uncle, was a cooper in Nuits-Saint-Georges before World War I, and also Cecile’s grandfather. In 1921, he married Esther Fournier, who came from a vigneron family, and they established their estate based on vineyards from her inheritance, gradually expanding the portfolio over the years. Cecile is also a distant cousin to Yves Confuron of Domaine Confuron-Cotetidot, and niece to Henri Jayer. Before she took over, the vineyards were largely leased out to other winemakers. That changed when Cecile, in her late 20s (around year 2000) decided to embark on her own wine-making journey, and bottle her own wines under her family name. It began with 2003 vintage.

Coming from a family with extensive experience in viticulture, but not in actual wine-making, Cecile’s journey was somewhat unconventional. After spending time working in different sectors, she felt a pull towards the family vineyards. In 2003, she reclaimed several of the family’s leased plots and established Domaine Cecile Tremblay. The estate covers just over four hectares of vines in some of the most coveted terroirs of the Cote de Nuits, including prized parcels in Chambolle-Musigny, Vosne-Romanee, and Nuits-Saint-Georges. The Grand Crus of Chapelle-Chambertin and Echezeaux Du Dessus (above Grands Echezeaux) are two highly sought-after, signature wines by Cecile Tremblay.  The vineyards are old but very well-situated. They have low-yields, and give her wines exceptional concentration and complexity.

Wine-making has always been in Cecile's blood. Many affiliate Cecile to be the protege of Henri Jayer, but it was in fact, her husband Philippe Charlopin, whom was a pupil of Henri Jayer, while Benjamin Leroux and David Croix are fellow school mates whom shared the intricacies of wine-making. Having regular tastings with her uncle since young, Henri Jayer had a great influence on Cecile. Henri, known for his hands-on approach in the vineyard, advocated for minimal intervention in the wine-making process, a philosophy that Cecile has embraced. She shares Henri Jayer’s belief that great wine is made in the vineyard, with a focus on low yields, organic viticulture, and meticulous attention to detail at every step of the wine-making process. In today's wine-making, while de-stemming is popular, Cecile is  flexible and decides on de-stemming percentages according to the vintages and communes.

Cecile's wines are known for their finesse, vibrancy, and elegance, and often display a striking purity of fruit, with silky tannins and an underlying minerality that is characteristic of great Burgundy wines (like Henri Jayer's). Her wines have a balance and refinement that is distinct. You know it is a wine by Cecile, when there is a certain poise and precision. Like Jayer, she seeks to capture the essence of each vineyard in the bottle, crafting wines that speak of place and time with exceptional clarity. In a region that is defined by tradition, Cecile Tremblay is not only preserving a legacy, but also creating her own path, setting the bar high for the next generation of winemakers.

9/10/2024: Spot Offer: 2014 and 15 Cristal with 2015 Dom Perignon

The 2014 and 2015 vintages for Champagne was an interesting contrast. Each vintage has its own character due to the varying climatic conditions. The choices made by the winemakers made a huge difference in both Cristal and Dom Perignon.

2014 growing season was challenging for Champagne as a whole, characterized by unusual weather patterns. The year started well with a mild spring and promising flowering, but was followed by a cool, rainy summer. This raised concerns about the development of the grapes. However, the weather dramatically improved in September, with warm and dry conditions that allowed the grapes to reach a good level of ripeness. 2015 vintage was a much more favorable year in Champagne, with near-perfect growing conditions. The weather was warm and sunny, with good rainfall at the right times, producing healthy, ripe grapes with excellent balance between sugar and acidity. Both 2014 and 2015 might just be the two back to back collectible vintages for Champagne connoisseurs.

2014 and 2015 Cristal

Louis Roederer produced a stunning Cristal in 2014 despite the uneven weather. The house is known for its rigorous grape selection, and this allowed them to create a wine of great purity and elegance. 2014 Cristal has a fine tension and vibrant acidity that typify Cristal’s style. The balance between richness and freshness is particularly well-executed, highlighting the skill of the wine-making team.

2015 is seen as a warmer vintage, and Cristal from this vintage reflects more concentration and richness. The ripe fruit flavors are more pronounced, along with the characteristic chalky minerality. The Champagne is elegant and opulent, with a slightly broader mouthfeel than cooler vintages, but still maintains Cristal’s signature precision and purity. This vintage has a perfect harmonious structure and the potential to age gracefully for decades.

2015 Dom Perignon

Even though Dom Perignon did not declare a 2014 vintage (perhaps due to the challenging growing season). They have been lauded for its balance of richness and energy in their 2015. The house had created a Champagne of both power and refinement in the 2015. With a creamy texture on the palate and a persistent, mineral-driven finish, the warm vintage gives it a rounded, full-bodied character, with ample freshness to ensure longevity. The Champagne is approachable young but has the structure to improve with cellaring, revealing more layers of complexity in a glass.

Both Cristal and Dom Perignon have excelled with their 2015 releases. Cristal took a risk on the 2014 and it paid off, while it was one missed vintage for Dom Perignon. Nonetheless, both the Champagnes Houses have been delivering age-worthy Champagnes that embody the essence of the Champagne region for decades, and they will continue to do so. With a small parcel of the 2014 and 2015 Cristal + 2015 Dom Perignon, don't miss today's special Champagne spot offer.

1/10/2024: The Quintessential Remoissenet Back Vintage Library Releases | by a Single Collector

Remoissenet is a wine estate, renowned for producing wines from a spread of communes, spanning from Village, Premier and some prestigious and highly sought-after Grand Crus. With a rich history and reputation for wine-making, the inclusion of their reputable and older vintages (60s, 70s, 80s, 90s) Grand Crus released over the years, are the jewels many collectors seek and hunt. If there is one Remoissenet collection that completes a journey into the wines of this producer, this is the one.

Remoissenet was founded in 1877 in the city of Beaune, the heart of Burgundy’s wine region. The winery quickly gained a reputation for producing top-quality Burgundy wines. For decades, Remoissenet was owned and operated by the Remoissenet family, passing down through generations and building its prominence as both a Domaine and Negociant. The last owner was Roland Remoissenet, and in 2005, he sold the Domaine to a group of American investors, whom also acquired 400,000 bottles of back vintage bottles stored in the ancient and underground cellars beneath the headquarters of the winery. Some bottles date back to the 1900s. Other than these, a Burgundian, Bernard Repolt was put in charge, and he engaged Laurence and Claudie Jobard (of Drouhin) as winemakers. Under this new ownership, there were significant investment in modernizing the estate, improving vineyard management, and enhancing wine-making techniques. Since the change in ownership, Remoissenet has placed their focus on sustainable viticulture practices, taking great care in tending to the vineyards, minimizing intervention and respecting the natural environment to ensure the quality and longevity.

One of the uniqueness of Remoissenet, is their access to a large collection of older wines after the takeover. Over the years, the winery had released batches of their library vintages, and include some "impossible to find" Grand Crus from the 1950s to the 1990s. These Grand Crus hail from some of the best vineyards in Burgundy, whether these are wines made through direct ownership, or grapes (or barrels) purchased from other Domaines whom the family had been working with. Nonetheless, Remoissenet is a pillar of Burgundy’s wine-making tradition, combining family practices with techniques to create wines that exemplify the best of the region’s terroir. With a diverse wine portfolio, the winery continues to uphold and revive its reputation as one of Burgundy’s premier wine estates.

Today, Wine Bond is proud to launch "The Quintessential Remoissenet Back Vintage Library Releases". This is the ONLY opportunity to own these rare bottles. All the bottles come from a single collector, whom has been buying these for more than a decade. The effort of the owner, to consolidate such a huge back vintage collection over the years, truly requires patience, commitment, and love for these wines. I couldn't ask for a better Remoissenet list to broker today. ALL the bottles had been personally inspected, and while the initially list had 133 bottles, only 92 bottles made the cut today. These 92 bottles (include MAGNUMS), had the best ullage, labels and foil capsules. It is going to be a long list, but don't wait, as these are as rare as they get!......RS
